Project Profile: Pipeline Sump Tank Leavinng the FTS Facility

Custom Pipeline Sump Tank Solution – 1,000 Gallon Pig Launcher Station

This specialized 4-foot-diameter, 1,000-gallon pipeline sump tank was engineered for a pig launcher and receiving station requiring maximum containment security and operational reliability. FTS designed this custom double-wall (DW) fiberglass system with vinyl ester (VE) lining to provide superior corrosion resistance against caustic pipeline by-products while maintaining 100% watertight integrity throughout its service life.

The underground containment system features advanced dry interstitial monitoring capabilities, allowing operators to detect potential leaks between the primary and secondary walls before any environmental impact occurs. This proactive monitoring approach is essential for pig launcher and receiver stations where high-volume liquid transfers present elevated spill risks during pipeline cleaning and inspection operations.

FTS provided complete project delivery, including the custom sump tank, containment accessories, concrete deadman anchoring systems, and coordinated shipping to ensure seamless installation. The integrated deadman system provides critical structural stability for the underground tank, while the specialized accessories enable efficient pump-out and maintenance operations.

Manufactured to UL 1316 standards with our signature 5:1 safety factor, this SPCC-compliant system delivers decades of reliable performance backed by our comprehensive 30-year structural and corrosion warranty.
