Pipeline Sump Tanks
Engineered for Reliability in Critical Sump Applications
Our pipeline sump tanks play a key role in Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (SPCC) plans for the oil and gas pipeline industry. Built with a 5:1 safety factor against buckling, these double-wall fiberglass tanks are fully customizable with manway extensions, fittings, and monitoring systems to meet your project’s specifications.
Backed by a 30-year structural and corrosion warranty and a 1-year workmanship warranty, these tanks offer long-lasting performance, even in the harshest conditions. Manufactured using premium materials, they resist internal corrosion caused by caustic and heavy pipeline by-products.
All FTS pipeline sump tanks are built to the latest industry standard:
ANSI/CAN/UL/ULC 1316:2018 – Fibre Reinforced Underground Tanks for Flammable and Combustible Liquids (UL 1316).
Effective Pipeline Sump Tank Systems For When You Need It Most
Pipeline sump tanks are underground, double-wall fiberglass catchment tanks designed to support Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (SPCC) plans at oil and gas facilities. Commonly installed at pig launcher and receiver stations, LACT (Lease Automatic Custody Transfer) skids, and other pipeline or refinery infrastructure, these corrosion-resistant sump tanks safely contain hazardous liquids in crude oil and natural gas operations.
Each FTS double-wall (DW) pipeline sump tank is custom-built to your site specifications, with a wide range of options for manways, piping configurations, pump-out systems, and leak monitoring accessories. Lightweight, durable, and 100% watertight, they are engineered for easy installation and long-term performance.
Although not required for SPCC sump tanks, FTS manufactures all sump tanks to meet UL 1316 standards for flammable and combustible liquid storage. This includes rigorous testing, structural integrity qualifications, and external pressure resistance, giving our customers peace of mind and proven performance.

How we manufacture our tanks - Optimized Laminate Construction

Each FTS tank is built using a carefully engineered laminate sequence that reflects decades of experience:
- 200 Mil C-Veil Corrosion Barrier = First resin-rich layer of defense.
- 3D Fiberglass Interstitial Fabric = Communication layer between primary and secondary walls.
- Trapezoidal Structural Ribs = Ribbed reinforcements added to increase the tank’s structural strength & stability.
- Helical & Hoop Winding Layers = Provides structural integrity. Distributes material evenly in a spiral pattern.
- Final Resin-Rich Layer = Another 200 Mil liner. Protects the exterior from corrosion, moisture, and contaminants.
The result? A structurally advanced, corrosion-resistant tank engineered to meet today’s stringent UL 1316 requirements—and backed by a legacy of real-world performance.
